Sticky Buttons
Finally after trying many different products, I found one that does an excellent job at removing the sticky residue from the steering wheel and glove box buttons and the headlight switch area. The solvent is denatured alcohol. Use sparingly and lightly as it can remove some of the color, especially on the edges, and it works fast. (Use at your own risk). After using it, I applied a silicone product and they look as good as new.

happens as a natural deterioration of the material used for and/or on the buttons. goo gone works really well to dislodge the goo. i followed up with 91% isopropyl alcohol and the goo gone and the goo came off easily. typical 70% alcohol sold in drug stores won't work, needs to be 90+%, also can be purchased at the drug store. now good as new!
