How to remove the air vent from the back of the front center console?
2004 S500, I am wondering how to remove the whole air vent set up that blows the air to the back seat of the car, its the one on the back of the center console, someone kicked it and its out of whack and I want to remove it and reinstall it so it sits flush again.
thanks

you need a plastic key? (cotter)??? about 1.5" wide and 15° angle and then pry CAREFULLY around the wooden frame. Then the vent should pop out

Rear vent
Just did it yesterday. Though I don't have a plastic wedge, I have a flat head screw driver. The only reason I went ahead with the screwdriver was because I had an additional trim piece I could replace it with.
But anyways, what I did was get a flat screw driver and put it inbetween the wood trim and the actual vent. So I wasn't prying at the leather console, I was at the top of the vent inbetween it and the trim piece. I started applying very light pressure and it popped out and comes out with the 'din'. Then you can gently pull out the actual vent control. Be gentle and don't force it and you should be fine!

thanks, I will try to not destroy it getting it out.. it appear that someone kicked it and popped it half out of place already so hopefully it will pop the rest of the way with a good pull
