Windshield just cracked today!

Windshield just cracked today!
The wierdest thing happened today.
A large crack suddenly appeared in the bottom part of the windshield just right above the wipers. It extends all the way from the passenger side to the middle of the car.
The freaky thing is, the crack is on the INSIDE of the car!
My wife and I are guessing environmental factors right now.
1) It was about 90 degrees today with a heat index of almost 100.
2) The car was sitting in the sun most of the afternoon.
3) Thunderstorms suddenly let loose a torrent of rain for about an hour, then stopped.
When I parked the car at 3:00 pm, the windshield was fine. When we went out to dinner after the rain slowed down a bit at 6:30 pm, the huge crack was there! We suspect that the high heat and then sudden downpour probably overstressed the glass enough to crack it.
Has anyone heard of this happening?
It looks like I'm due some warranty service....LOL. There's no way a pebble or rock hit the glass since the crack is on the inside of the car. Wierd huh?

yea, i think the heat and the sudden coolness cuased it, cuz everytime i empty the dish washer and im thirsty my mom says wait like 5 minutes so it cools down so it doesnt crack, so im guessing the exact same thing happened to you
