2000 s500 blower regulator connector melted

Does some know where I can buy this connector by itself. Its square and has 4 pins. The dealer told me I have to buy the whole wiring harness. I can do that.

parts department telling me

The a/c blower motor under the passenger dash cuts off. The reason it stops blowing is because the connector coming from the car which plugs into the blower motor speed regulator is burned/melting. I need a new connector. the blower motor "OEM" was replaced by me about a year ago. I read there was a recall "00v141000" to fix a defect like this back in 2000. I am not the original owner. What gets me pissed the parts department telling me I would have to buy that whole section of the wiring harness to get the connector I need. Well you KNOW the dealer did not replace the whole wiring harness when THEY fixed the melted plug.

Can't help w/ a I'd say time to crack out some wire cutters and a soldering iron. maybe a trip to an elecronics store like Fry's or Radio Shack for a connector? Or see if one of they guys parting out their cars could clip the connector for you.

down to diy

Yes I can do that. I am very good at that. Its just that other Benz products like for example a 2006 jeep commander, which has a made in Germany blower regulator and has the same small pins (In a different configuration) Also burn and melt. But Chrysler/Jeep sell this connector with a part number.

Component:
Equipment
Potential Units Affected:
7100
Manufacturer:
Mercedes-benz Usa, Llc.

Summary: Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. Due to an internal defect in the circuitry of the blower motor regulator, the regulator may overheat.

Consequence: This could cause surrounding plastic, insulation, and wiring to deform and possibly melt or burn.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the blower motor regulator.
