Can somebody tell me what happened? ECM

I brought the car in for front end work. Its a beautiful 2000 S500 perfectly maintained, by a local shop. It has 193K. Upper control arms went in easily. I was told it needed a catalytic converter. I bought one had it delivered to the shop. But was never installed. I was told the car had problems? It went dead? It won't start and has no power at all. Well they call in a specialist! 7 weeks later. I am told the drivers side fuse box was blown and needed to be replaced, and the ECM was bad. After flipping out, my mechanic tells me he doesn't know what happened and agrees to eat the expense for fuse box and ECM! Believe it or not I get the car back and it seems fine. EXCEPT the passenger side seat adjustment doesn't work and fuses are good. No one has told me what happened to the car, someone knows but not me. All thoughts and recommendations are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

tHANKS FOR THE RESONSE

Are you saying water got in the fuse box? Its a common problem for the fuse box and ecm to blow together? I haven't read anything like that.
