Diagnosing/Replacing Faulty Parktronic
My 2005 S500 4matic, has had flakey parktronic sensors for a few months now. I'm now thinking of trying to replace the sensors myself.
1. Does anyone know how to figure out which sensor is bad? I can't believe they just all failed at once, since the problem seems intermittent.
2. Is there any way to get diagnostic info about which sensor failed from COMAND?
3. Are they any guides for removing the front bumper/replacing the sensors?
Thanks!
2. No
3. You don't need to remove the bumper, just the impact strip, which pops on and off.
You can either pay the dealer $125 for diagnostics on which sensor is bad, or spend the same $125 for 2 extra sensors, which you can install at the same time....and then you'll have all new ones in the corner.

$59 at oediscountparts.com with free shipping.
You probably will need to stop by a dealer to give you the location of the sensors. Should run you no more than $150 or so.
You can paint them with a bottle of mb touch up paint. Nothing complex.
