replace airmatic shock 2000 s430
i just replaced my right rear shock with a friend. i got a used strut for 250. there are 2 kinds of shocks 1 airmatic without abc and 1 with, the bottoms look different. u can go to strut masters web site they have a good video also. and tools needed .loosen tire. look inside at back deck, remove cover, lossen i shock with 13mm open wrench and a 10 mm to take of air hose. go to lower control arm and use 21 mm wrench to losen shock bolt. mine didn't have ride height sensor. use 12mm torx bit (55) to remove hub bolt. use 18mm wrench loosen inner control bolt pull out hub, take out shock . follow wire from strut and it will go in to car thru a grommet, disconnect it gently. now everything in reverse and your done. it took 2 hours. when ever the airmatic light comes on it prolly a bad shock or pump. there is a kit for front shocks if there are cracks on top of the shocks, check . mercedes has a great car when there is no problems but they truly a pain to fix. the stealers love us if you take it in. as you know mbworld is the best place to start at looking for fixes and parts are cheap on ebay.
