'03 S500 4Matic Airmatic problem

I found a pool of hydraulic fluid on the floor of our garage and took the car to my Indie to try to find the problem. On putting the car on the hoist we found the driver's side strut area covered in fluid. Both the upper and lower seal areas of the strut are dry but the fluid seems to be coming from a reservoir tank located on the outer side of the strut. Does this mean changing the strut or are the some other potential problems. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
