19's on a 2000 S class... ?'s about ride, looks, etc.
also, i have found a set of 4 imitation chrome lm5 wheels without tires for 1800 shipped to my door. they are 8.5 in the front and 9.5 in the back. recommended tire sizes are 255/40/19 in the front and 285/35/19 in the back. is there a different size i should look into for a better ride? does this sound like a good deal?
and regarding the rims, what the real life negatives about getting the imitations in regards to the originals. i know there are subtle differences, but im willing to give up some of the looks for the lower price. but will getting these imitations mess up my ride, are they a lot cheaper in quality, etc.? or are they pretty good wheels?
all comments are greatly appreciated. i am looking into these lm5's which will run me 1800 shipped and the tires in the above sizes which will run me another 725... 2525 total, plus a shop slappin the tires on the rims and then the rims/tires on the benz... how much is this approximately?
sorry for all the q's, just dont want to make a hasty decision and regret buying rims... thanks a lot.
On the plus side, handling is much improved over stock.
You should have no rubbing issues at all as long as you stick to the 245(f) and 265/275(r) widths which come stock on the sport package. I had to have the inner fender well trimmed on my S600 to accommodate the 295s I'm running
I have some very light 19"s on my S600, and the ride is slighty firmer than with the stock 18"s. Much will depend on your tire choice actually - if you have the stock tires on your existing rims, be prepared for a dramatic change in the ride quality, as most 19" tires in the appropriate size will be much MUCH firmer than your existing tires. The change from the 18" performance tires which came stock on my car was not as dramatic, although road noise did increase.
