w220 boot not popping up

w220 boot not popping up
Hi guys, is there any way to adjust the boot on my w220 so that it pops right up when i use the remote. Currently it only lifts up a little bit. Many thanks for all your help

When you say your boot I assume you're talking about your trunk in America speak. If so you might want to check your setting via the dash. His has a setting that allows one to restrict the height of the trunk/boot. I think it is called trunk limiter or something like that. Turn that off and see if it works better.

If you pop off the plastic trim that sits over the spring, you can see there is two notches where the spring can be mounted. You can pry it of and mount it on the lowest notch, that will stretch the spring even more and should make the boot pop.
If not you probably need new springs. Be careful though these springs are strong and can easily make some serious damage if precautions aren't taken.

Hi guys, yes i meant the boot/ trunk. I will try both methods. Ever since i bought this car the boot only opened slightly sometimes. I will try the dash method then the spring postion method. Am i wrong in a assuming the 10mm bolts at each end aren't used for adjusting the boot? I really appreciate this help. Many thanks
