Our 2003 S430 has the wide-screen COMMAND unit with the CD slot, and the nav system needs the CD in the slot to operate. I understand that - don't like it much, but I understand it.

I finally visited my nearest dealer (thirty miles, in heavy traffic), and they cheerfully ran the datacard info on my VIN. One of the options is:
"530 COMMAND DVD APS USA WITH NAVIGATION".

DVD? What DVD?

As I posted in another thread, the car has the opening and bracket for the later Navigation DVD unit over the CD changer in the trunk. The delivery date is 05/23/2003, so it is a mid-year car.

Any comments? Anyone else have the "DVD" option on a non-DVD car?
