From the photo it would seem as if the hood to fenders is just about perfect. If anything the bumper cover needs to come up on the driver's side. I have 2 W220 vehicles and what I am seeing is not unusual. Most people won't notice the difference, after all it is a 13 year old vehicle.

That would drive me insane. I hate it when the outside pieces don't line up. From the look of it the rest of the car is lined up so it hard to tell what piece is off from alignment. its either the bumper or the hood though. This may not be a simple fix. Is the bumper warped ?

fender equal distances !
Is it possible to tune the hood hinges?
Do you have another set screw inside?
defective left front AIRMATIC !!!
Could this be the reason?

Can't really tell from the photo, but it looks as if the bumper is low on the passenger side, and the hood is a little high on the same side. Look at the space between the bumper and the bottom of the headlights. The bumper needs to be raised slightly. May be bent brackets or poor adjustment - only inspection will tell.
There are two hood stops, one on each side. Look for a round disk with a point in the center just behind the headlamps. These screw up and down to act as stops or supports for the hood. You may also need to adjust the hood latch slightly.

If your referring to the gap between the bumper & the hood. All w220's 99-02 have that same gap. I have a 2000 S500 & had a 2001 S55. Both have that gap.
If you take a look at 2003's & up, the hoods are different. The hood on the newer ones are open at the bottom. The grill is also a little longer which closes out that gap.
Hope that helps.

The bumper is hanging low everywhere on the right side, there are uneven gaps:
under the grill, the headlights and on the side where it meets the fender.
The hood looks fine.
