Strange Loss of Power problem

I have a 2004 S600, pretty much stock with only K&N filters. About a month ago I started having this issue. The car starts up strong and runs very smooth. While it's cold it has what feels like full power. After it is warm, if I press the pedal down more than 1/2 or 3/4 it starts to move out with full power as if normal but then all of a sudden the power backs off. No stumbling or roughness just lower power. Its almost as if I'm pressing the pedel down all the way but the ECU is only letting the throttle open 1/4 or so. I can still go through all the gears and even get up over 80 eventually. I'm not getting error indications or codes at all. If I stop, shut down the engine and restart, it goes back to normal full power until the next time I slam the pedel down then the same thing happens. Any ideas on what could be giving me this problem?

Thanks,

check the pressure at the fuel rail under the described condition to make sure the filter is ok; after that things get a little more complicated (such as exhaust back pressure).

good luck

No codes? Perhaps the upstream/downstream pressure sensors or temp sensor killing the boost? Two pressure sensors off each air box, one on the top center above the throttle unit between the intercoolers. There is also a temp and downstream sensor in the "V" under the voltage regulator. That top center upstream pressure sensor went bad in mine and caused a similar sounding symptom.

Perhaps your guess is possible - isn't the throttle on your car "fly-by-wire" - that is, not a mechanical connection between the pedal and throttle, but instead an electrically-operated, computer controlled throttle, based upon reading a pedal position sensor?
