DIY Transmission Fluid Change Video

From what I've been told on the forum, MB did away with converter drain bolt several years ago. And yes, the fluid circulates thru both the tranny and converter. Perhaps of interest to you, there are a couple of posts here or on other MB forums describing how to flush the entire unit. That's not for me. Personally, I just drop the pan and change what fluid comes out along with the filter every 25k miles. IMHO, this will keep the fluid fresh and help prolong the tranny's life.

Thanks Jud!! I'll see what I can do about the door "soft close" issue. The fluid temp can be a bit tricky, but really it just comes down to patience because it takes a long time to warm up to 80 degrees Celsius. This is the reason why I demonstrate the two container method for measuring how much oil to replace. That's interesting that the Mercedes Techs skip the temp check.
I've always used Fuchs Titan 4134. It's good for 5 and 7 speed and you can mix it with old fluid. Car doesn't seem to complain.
As for the transmission plug, I replaced it before I made the video... Buy the OEM version, I believe the O-rings are bigger, or better, or bigger AND better. haha. I'll make a video next time I change the transmission fluid.
+1 on the 25k service Jud!
I bounce back and forth between these two sites. Mainly for two reasons. 1. One site might have a part that the other does not. 2. Sometimes the price is a little cheaper, but you can't go wrong with either site.
http://www.rmeuropean.com Free shipping @ $65+ (right now their ATF is cheaper @ $13.06)
http://www.autohausaz.com/ Free shipping @ $50+ ($13.29)

ok gentlemen,
I recently have not been 100% happy with how my car shifts. part of the problem is that during the week I drive about 2 miles to the train station and back. Car shifts maybe 8 times each way. But I'm going to do a flush yumling style with the Fuchs Titan 3352, which is a 236.12 spec fluid. I'm hoping this will improve shift quality.
Any tips from those that have done this?

ok, just to update, did the yumling flush.
This is actually very straightforward and take little time.
For reference, the line nut is 19mm. Mine was on there tight, so i used some pb blaster. The angle also sucks because the air intake cutouts are right above it. Hence I had to tilt the cooling fan towards the engine to get a wrench on there well enough to get this done.
Now then, slap some 1/2" ID, 5/8" OD hose over the fitting, attach a hose clamp to make sure its tight, and then just pump one quart out by starting the car briefly, add one quart back in until you've exhausted your fluid stock or the fluid looks new on the way out.
very simple. I used the older 236.12 Fuchs 3353 fluid and shifting seems to be improved.
Once done, measure trans temp, and check/adjust fluid level as appropriate.
easy.

Quadcammer,
So you flushed your tranny using the upper transmission connection to the radiator? I am doing a flush Friday and don’t want to experiment to find the supply line to the radiator.
I just don't want fluid spraying all over the place if I guess wrong.
