W220 '99 comand sound disappears

Hi,

I have a 1999 W220 with comand. Suddenly after several seconds I hear a short crack sound and there is no sound left. Complete silence. No error messages.

This happens when a CD from the CD changer plays and when radio plays.

When a CD plays, after the crack sound, you get the message "No CD changer inserted" (or a similar message in English, my Comand language is Dutch)

When the radio is playing it's just silent after the cracking sound.

When I turn off the comand console, wait a few seconds and turn it on again, it works normally, for a few seconds. typically 20 to 30 seconds. Than again the crack sound and silence.

Any idea what cound be causing this?

Maurice

I would bypass the fiber optics of the cd changer and see if you still have the problem , do you have voice control, telephone, etc?

Hi, no voicecontrol and I do have the original phone, which I've never used.

I'll try to see if I can bypass the fiber optics of the cd changer. I'll let you know.

Had same problem, twice. Checked the 7.5 amp fuse under right rear seat and it was not blown but apparently just a loose connection in fuse block. Re-installing fuse fixed it both times!
