Door Assist Soft Close

Has anyone installed this kit and, if so, what's the verdict?

There is a U-Tube video that deals with installing a repair kit which probably would apply to the kit on eBay. I emailed the link on the video but still have not received a reply.

Also the following video deals with one persons attempt to repair the broken actuator. He does not fully complete the instructional but it does seem to be a workable method of repairing the actuator.

The passenger door on my car has never worked since my purchase last year. My driver side soft close just stopped working the other day and I can hear air escaping inside the door so no doubt the plunger cap has come loose or failed. I am going to attempt a similar repair described in the second video before paying $500 each for new lock assemblies.

I am really surprised that no one has posted a viable fix for this common problem. I plan to start with my passenger side door and will post pictures and do a writeup if I am successful in making a good repair. If I fail at the repair then the alternative is to either buy the new assembly or just live without the soft close feature.
