Trunk wont open even with key
Trunk first would not open with electronic remote key or switch on drivers side door.
Got out owners manual, tried keys on main key and two spare keys.
Yes I have read nearly thirty threads on this issue with nothing helping me.
Happened in past, drove the car around and trunk opened fine. Not this time. No clicking of solenoids or pump.
Worse I can not open trunk by inserting the manual key, turning ccw, and pushing in. I can turn the manual key and lock and unlock all 4 doors, even open the windows and sun roof from the manual key in the trunk lid. Rear lights flash, interior lights comes on, so I think at least some of the circuits are working.
Another thing, I can not find the rear seat fuses. There is the old cell phone module and another small 3x3 box with a yellow connector. Nothing that looks like a fuse box.
This is an early 2000 S500, could they have located it under the cell phone module? Makes me wish I had kept my 1999 S600.

In the rear passenger compartment there is a fuse box behind the right foot well light. Try pulling the yellow 20 AMP fuse and reinstalling it. This recycles the trunk release mechanism on my car ('04 S55). Now try opening the trunk with the driver's door switch or the key fob. Works for me
