I've had a series of codes pop up recently with my 2004 Mercedes S430, however after parking it for a couple of days and restarting it there appears to be no issue.

Had check engine light come on a couple of weeks ago but after parking the car for a few days, started it up and the light was gone, no trace of anything gone wrong.

Most recently had ESP and ABS warning codes pop up. Message said to bring to the dealer immediately. I was heading out of town so brought the car home parked it from Tuesday night to Saturday morning. Saturday morning I start it up and it's like nothing happened. Took it out on the highway, drives fine, no lights appear, it's all good.

Car history - I'm the second owner of the car and purchased it in 2005 with 15,000 miles. I've had all regular servicing done at Mercedes dealership. I now have 100,000 miles and is still like brand new inside and out. It has always started first time except once when the battery died a few years back and I had to replace it.

It has been my daily driver until this spring when I picked up an SL63 and have been taking that to work daily. S Class has been used infrequently since April - not sure if that would make a difference.

Anyone else experienced anything like this, should I take it to the dealer to get it checked or were these just electrical gremlins I don't need to worry about? I had done some reading in the forum about battery voltage and warning lights but the car starts and runs fine except for these recent instances.

It could be the battery again, even if you do not get warnings about the battery itself. Disconnect and recharge the battery and see if it helps.
MB electronics need consistent battery output, top quality batteries are preferred.

2nd on the weak battery, have it checked

Thank you both, I will try that. I guess it makes sense as the car does sit for long periods of time without being driven so the battery isn't being charged regularly. Appreciate your responses.

Tried charging the battery and after that didn't work decided to replace the battery. Unfortunately that didn't solve it either.

I also purchased an OBDII reader and code provided was P0335, crankshaft position sensor. Lots of information on the forum around this one. Symptoms I have are very similar to what has been described on a number of threads with this error code. Just ordered new sensor today online. Once I've replaced it I'll provide another update - I hope this is it!

I was having two issues with the car. Replacing the battery fixed the random code issues I was experiencing. Also ordered a crankshaft position sensor online and replaced it this weekend. I've cleared the CPS fault, taken it for some fairly aggressive test drives and I seem to be as good as new.

I never would have attempted these repairs without all the knowledge being shared here. Saved myself hundreds of dollars as a result so thanks!

CPS repair although awkward was definitely manageable. Found a number of good threads on the forum that helped, along with this video on youtube that makes it very straightforward. Took me about 20 minutes total time to replace the CPS.
