Hey guys, I already had an S500 but I always liked the Designo color and after seeing one being sold for 5k, i said f*ck it and got it today for 4k.

Car is not in too bad shape, but it needs some work. First, the cassette player opens by itself after being closed for like 5 seconds anybody had this problem before? Can I fix it or should i get a new Comand?

Also, I never had problems cleaning my car because the interior was black, but this one is little bit dirty and it shows on the leather, what products do you guys use and would recommend?

Bet the button got wet. You should removing the buttons and grabbing qtips and alcohol and clean the connectors first before buying a new head unit. As far a cleaning, since its new a cheap I would just bring the car to a restoration place and drop 100 bucks on a interior restoration. They will use a spinning brush attached to a drill and really get everything out

upgrade to 2003 command for 350 bucks easy install and updates the interior a good bit. mothers makes a bunch of good cleaning products and look on youtube for details.

I use leatherique on my Designo mocha seats. I've gotten good results. The stuff isn't cheap though...

I use zaino on the seats.

sucks that the early designos didn't get the full leather package.

Thanks for the replies guys! I usually use Meguiars products but it never really "cleaned" anything, just made the leather and dash shine a little bit, so i'll try what you guys said.

@Corkshoppe most of the 2003 comand I see are more like 700$ if i find some for 350 i'd upgrade both my cars!

Dude, you may have about 10 years worth of dirt. It's a design, spend a few bucks and find someone with a drill brush to really get the interior beautiful. Then, just maintain it yourself. that's what I did. Best 99.99 I ever spent on the car. Any pictures of your old one

I will take her to a pro detailer, but i'm still searching for the right one. Last time i ended up with scratches all over my cluster and a broken ashtray!

Agree to take it to a pro- one that will first try a spot area to make sure they can do the job right

$100 spent having it done is better than $50-80 spent on leatherique products

look on ebay, 350 for 03 commands, get one and pm me ill tell you pinouts or look on here lots of post!

Honestly, some hot hot water and a little woollite work wonders on leather. I don't think "drill brushes" are in any way necessary.

Get a bag of microfiber towels at costco, a bottle of woollite, and whatever leather conditioner you like. A bit of elbow grease and you're good.

@Corkshoppe i might be bad at searching ebay but the cheapest one i found was around 400 with shipping, and it didn't even come with the buttons, only the frame and the lcd. If you find any at around 350 let me know, but keep in mind that i'm in canada and shipping costs are crazy + only MY 03 works on my car. The others that came with buttons were around 500+ shipping and the double din wood trim (that i couldn't find in designo color) was around 100+ shipping....

Other quick question, in my cluster settings, i have the option to have my outside mirrors fold in when locking the car and other settings that have to do with the levels of ambient lights, but those option don't work on my car and were only available in 03+ cars right? So that only means that my cluster was replaced for an 03+ one?

@Quadcammer i might be wrong, but you use to be Oliverk and i remember seing one of your thread were you couldn't open your glove box? Did you ever found a way to open it? Thanks

correct on the name change, but I dropped it off at the dealer under warranty. Not sure what they did. sorry.

if you look in the cluster and you have setting it should work, when the options show up that means the car was programmned for it, if it doesnt work then then it has to be reprogramned look on ebay, mercedes navigation radio 300 bucks i just saw it.
