I'm thinking of moving from my S500 and S55 to a 2006 S600. Am I crazy? What should I be looking for? What should I avoid? All opinions are welcome.

Thumbs up

Positive, but not easy to find in Canada.

Take you time and good luck.

3 W220, how about a G.

Not crazy.

I was a long time S55 (04) driver with Kleemann mods. When the mileage got to high and the warranty expired it went away. I now have an 05 S600, also modded with and ECU / TCU tune and more open exhaust.

There is a good thread somewhere on 600 versus 55 but the short story is:

Same major issue, ABC suspension. You don;t want to own either without deep pockets or an extended warranty. The S55 is more "exciting" but the S600 is faster (over 2k rpms), has WAY more torque and in the end for me is a much better balanced car. Plus the S600 interior is really far superior to the S55. Every surface is top grade leather and the standard features make the S55 seem loke your base car.

That said, you won't get: the AMG brakes (unless you find an AMG package on an S600 like mine) and paddle shift on the stering. Why not have the best of all and gofor an S65?

the interior is reason enough to upgrade.

Here is a 2005 ($25,950) located in Mississauga (west of Toronto) Ontario

I've purchased 2 vehicles from here and they have been good to deal with on both occasions. The cars they stock tend to be in very good condition.

I briefly thought about going to look at it, but the price delta between this and my existing S430 isn't worth it for me. Good luck with your search.
