Question Webesto STH location

I have a '00 S500L with Option 228 but neither I can start the stationary heating, nor I find the heater itself in the engine compartment.

Even I can adjust the cut-in time but there is no any effect.

Would somebody tell me how to operate (or resync) and where I can find the STH?

No dash, no OBDII, no Xentry code recorded.

Thank you!

Csaba

Assuming left hand drive.. engine compartment, passenger side, bottom of firewall (behind passenger side wheel well )

check fuse 41 in right front fuse box. ( red 30 amp fuse )

with no codes, will be tough to troubleshoot. Note the wheel well liner has been removed.

Thanks for the information, it is way very helpful.

I found the STH - at least the exhaust since I did not want to remove the plastic cover. The fuse was missing, when I replaced it, the heater begins to work (after pressing the ON on the remo).

Although I noticed strange effects:
(1) there is a short idle before the "ignition" - only cool (pure) air flows out from the exhaust.
(2) after the "ignition" there is a clicking noise from the RR wheel - it's maybe the fuel pump and need to be replaced even the heating is seems to be OK. (I checked only the warmness and the odour of the exhaust gas.)
(3) after stopping the system the clicking noise stops but the system works for some minutes - for cooling down the STH?

You are welcome

Clicking noise is from where the fuel pump is located. Clicking MAY be normal operation.
STH combustion air blower and circulation pump will continue to operate in "heater run on" mode for approx. 2.5 to 3 minutes after switch off. This is normal.

Now that is it working again, it MAY be a good idea to get it looked over by a dealer or competent mechanic with STAR diagnosis. We are talking about fire and gas ( or diesel ) working under the hood unattended . That fuse was removed for some reason, best to find out why.
