air shockreplaced

Hi. I have a 2002 s500 and recently had my front two air shocks replaced with a very low mileage used cars front air stocks. Had them looked at, and went in fine. This was two weeks ago, and just today i started hearing a thud/knock in the front right side as i went over pot holes.... that just came out of the blue. I called a MB friend and he said it wouldnt most likely be the shock, as the air shocks dont make that kind of noise if bad..... more of just air and fluid in there, and id hear a swoosh type sound if they were bad.
Any ideas of what it may be..... they didnt tighten a ball joint or something or over tightened something while putting it all together? They also replaced the lower ball joints and bushings while doing the shocks. Any help, or educated guesses would be so appreciated! Its been a process, thats for sure. But, not spending the 3-4 thousand $ at the dealer.

What do you mean by that? Ball joints to me are a straight r n r. Could you possibly go deeper into this because I replaced the drivers side lower control arm with the bottom ball joint to replace the poor ball joint and banging noises last year and the noise never really went away. I've been under there with crow bars and can not seem to locate the problem (however recently the passenger side ball joint is showing some wear)

Regards

The thud when you go over potholes is either the strut or ball joints /control arms

If youve checked all the new ones but there are other ones going bad , maybe its those

Also check the bushings and linkage to the torsion bar.
