I have a friend whose wipers constantly chatter, regardless of whether there is no water or its pouring rain. They clean the windshield good, but the other day as they pulled up I could hear them from the porch. The blades are unlike any other I have ever seen, while detailing I was cleaning the windshield I pulled them up and they just dropped down. I have never seen such a weird blade. Anyways, does anybody know to make them stop the chattering. Also, has anybody noticed the way the passenger side wiper arm, the way it rotates or whatever as its goin up and then it pivots back into place, I noticed that yesterday, I know its dumb, but I just thought it was creative, another thing I have never seen on another car. Anybody know why it moves like that? Sorry for the long post, but the main intent is to find out about the chattering wipers.

Umm, replace the wipers? Is this a trick question?

Have the exact same problems on our S5. There are a few other members here that I've read about that have had problems with the chattering wipers.

The only fix I've seen so far is replace them under warranty with the dealer.

Another solution:

Clean window very good. Apply RainX on windshield. This acts like a lubricant and should be good for about a month or two. No squeaking. RAINX works so great that you wont even turn on your wipers.

The arm moves in an eccentric manner because of European legislation.

The wipers have to sweep a certain percentage of the screen (about 90%) and this is Mercedes' answer.

That explains the motion. I think it looks cool the way it moves, especially on high

To change the tension just go to the dealer and ask them to do it.

if you have the euro blades and they skip, take a look at which one AND if it skips on the up or down swing. if they only skip on
the up OR down swing, the blade is not perpendicular to the windshield. this will cause the blade to skip. if the blade doesn't
skip and makes shatter, then try to clean the windshield with a max remover. if replacement parts do the same thing, then
there's something else wrong.

the adjustment for the angle against the windshield is to twist the arm or replace the arm.
