Using code readers

Guys,

I have a MaxiScan MS309 CAN OBD 2 Code reader, suitable for CAN OBD11/EOBD

Is this suitable for my w220 canbus ?

And where are the scart plug in points to read of the fault codes (mines a 1999 S320 petrol)

I dont have any issues with the car, just building my toolkit for her.

Many Thanks

Answering my own question,

Looks like its up under the dash drivers side RHD model next to the bonnet release and electronic parking brake release switch area.

Good old seek and ye shall find implementation, lol.

Starting in 1996, the EPA required all cars sold in the USA to meet OBD-II (On Board Diagnostics, Phase II), and this drove any non-USA manufacturer who wanted to sell here to meet them as well. Some makes and models, such as the Porsche 928, were discontinued as a result.

The W220 models fully meet the OBD-II requirements, so must have the standard connector in the standard position (basically, close to the driver's leg).

OBD-II code readers generally read all emission-critical codes, and will usually clear most of them. Better readers will read actual values and more codes. There is a large list of required codes with standard wording and meaning, and the manufacturer may also add any codes they desire.

The STAR System does all of the required codes, along with hundreds of other codes and values. The OBD-II code readers do only a tiny fraction of the functions of the STAR System.
