I got my tranny for $500 from a mbworld member parting out a car with 80k miles On it, had it installed for $300
A rebuild would have cost $2500 at an independent mechanic , or $8000 from the dealer . You have to know how to source cheap parts for these cars . With 200000 miles it makes no sense to put in a brand new 0 mile tranny |
2003 S500 just 115,000 miles. However, the other day I had this cracking noise (like someone squeezing one of those plastic water bottles inside my driver's side door). I'm almost certain it is the actuator because if I use the soft close on that door I can hear the air seeping. I'm told that actuator is a bear to replace but I'll tackle it sometime next week.
|
My 600 has 89,xxx miles currently. I'll keep it at until either A) I find a W221 600 [easier said than done] or B) I have to spend another $20k on the ABC system.

2006 S430- 22k Miles

Thanks Tusabes I have already pulled the fuse. Unlike some other folks on here who have stated that they would pull the fuse and then put it back in, mine is out until the actuator is fixed.

'02 S500. Just turned 91,000. I'm the second owner. Looked up the CarFax on it and was serviced on schedule by original owner. So far have replaced rear struts and battery. It sits for weeks at a time, then highway driven for a few days, then sits again. Will be quite awhile before it hits 100K.

My 2004 S320 CDI has 165k miles or 260tkms.Pretty faultless except some airmatic woes and minor electric troubles.Though i can feel the transmission is on its way - slight slipping and fluid turned dark in only 20k miles.

2005 S430 has 220K. No major issues but regular maintenance and still runs, shifts and looks like new. Only "major" issue I have had in the past year is a water pump, but was not that expensive. Amazing how good the Mercedes Interior hold up unlike other manufacturers.

You gots to pay to play playa!
2006 S65 AMG with only 58k miles on it. 60k mile service completed with 24 new spark plugs, 2 new updated coil packs, new radiator, new thermostat and housing, new hoses, Coolant system flushed, replaced Turbo Intercooler charge air auxilary water pump with the updated one. ABC system flushed during oil, oil filter, air and cabin filter and fuel filter change and transmission service. Both ABC filters replaced. Motor Mounts replaced when replacing the o-rings and gaskets on the turbo hard coolant lines. Total parts cost $ 4,300, and total labor cost $ 3,325. (Turbo hard coolant lines o-ring and gasket replacement alone was a 22 hour job, which my Indy charged me only 12 hours and the cost of labor was $ 1,530, o-ring and gaskets cost $ 8.) Spent $ 7,625, however, the feeling of flying around in this 747 like Jet after all the work is done is Priceless! Cheers!~:zoom:
