2000 S430 AC Not working
Please, can someone give me advice pertaining to my AC system not working. I am mechanically incline and am trying to avoid bringing car to a workshop, if I can repair problem my self. The AC EC dial on panel was constantly red and no cold air would come out of the vents. Did some online research and it led to possible sun sensor failure. I replaced sun sensor and followed procedure to reset the EC light indicator. All went well but Still no cold air when ac is turned on. Also, there is a slight change in motor sound when EC dial is turned on but not significant. Next, My thoughts where that there is low freon on ac system, went to Walmart, purchased freon with pressure gauge and noticed it was in the red zone....pressure was around 100, too high. So I did not attempt to add any freon. In conclusion, I spoke to a local AC specialist and their procedure includes draining system to -10 and adding new freon and re-calibrating AC system. Being that there is high pressure, what can cause this issue? How and can I drain AC system myself? Please, any advice will help before I have no choice but to bring to a specialist. Thank you in advance.

Ok two things. Red light indicates a fault in the system. Recommend that you have it scanned by star diag/Mercedes equipment. many things can go bad with these s430 ac systems. Avoid throwing parts at it until you have the right diag. Second, get some gauges on the system and check if pressures are in spec and that there is no leak.
