FIXED! Trunk wont pop with out metal key.
Vehicle: 2002 S55 AMG
Problem: Intermittent problem with trunk release interior switch & trunk button on key & trunk switch wont open the trunk. Intermittent left license plate light out.
Symptoms: Some times the trunk releases but most of the time it doesn't. When any of the switches are activated to release the trunk you can hear noise and movement from the power close portion of the latch. Lock cylinder and assembly seems to function normal. At least once a month I would receive an intermittent fault from the license plate light.
New latch was installed, no changes were noticed.
Solution: Trunk wire harness replaced (2208208715), problem solved.
This is the 2nd trunk harness I've had to replace on a W220 due to damaged wires with in the spring loaded braid. I can foresee this being a common issue in the future with our aging 220s
