AMG Intake compatibility

Hi guys,
I have searched the forum for a while but cannot find confirmed compatibility between 55/55K airbox with the S430. There are a few posts that people have touched on the subject but no one posted any solid conclusion or actual experience with it. I have seen posts where people suggest e55 aibox for s430, and that clk55 will not fit because the s430 engine is longer (even though same displacement V8 as the CLK430). But when I checked the OEM parts website for MB they listed one airbox diagram for w208/w210 (E and Clk), and a different one for w220/w218 (S and CLS). My S430 airbox is cracked and I really want to upgrade to something little better instead of getting stock ones. Has anyone here done the airbox upgrade or could let me know which AMG airbox would fit the S430?

Well the 55k airbox definitely won't fit

The question is whether the normally aspirated clk55 airbox will fit the s430

Both engines are the same dimensions but thats the engine itself only- the outside hardware , intake tube length etc is different

The closest thing I see is ebay item 201181333400

It sure looks like the s430 airbox but the intake tubes seem different . Don't know If you can keep those parts of your s430 airbox

I would try it and if it doesn't fit return it or sell it to someone else . Please let me know as I would like the same airbox as it looks nicer than the s430 one

Thanks Tusabes,
I find it interesting that all OEM parts web-site said that the regular airbox (s430, S500) will be backward compatible with the S55, if so I cannot understand why the S55 will not fit S430...
I don't know about the W209 CLK55 airbox though, I have seen people fit the W208 CLK55 onto same generation CLK430, but have not seen any cross-over on the W209. Well, Renntech will be the easiest way out, only if it is not that pricey...

The only difference is the AMG badge on the front !

The s55 supercharged model air box will not fit the s430/s500

lol...so the 00/01 S55 AMG airbox is the exact same as S430 except the AMG logo?? I just did a quick search and the replacement part number for S55 airbox is the same number as the S430 airbox...wow

If that's true it's so strange, so in the CLK they make a better intake for the CLK55 AMG than the CLK430, but in S-class the base S430 use the same intake as the AMG S55?! If that is the case I'm not even gonna bother changing it....maybe just the cover and some repainting...

Like I said , if I were you I would try that clk 55 airbox I linked on eBay

see if it will fit , ESP if the seller will accept returns or you're capable of reselling it on eBay if it doesn't work

The clk airbox itself should mount onto your motor. You may need to use your intake tubes.

I doubt very much you'll notice any difference in power.

change to k and n filters for more air flow but you won't notice any gain in power.

Hi guys,

Can I or should I use an after market air intake on my V6 CLK? Will it give any sort of gain or it's just money out the window ?
