S55 AMG K W220 2003 TPMS
Hello!
Over the next week I am having 4 new tyres fitted and the wheels refurbished on my AMG.
It has factory fitted TPMS fitted, however all four have been dead for a few years(batteries).
Mercedes want £105 each for each sensor. Is there a cheaper equivalent?
Attached are photos of the original ones on my alloy, I notice the Audi/Volkswagen have the same frequency and shape, and are £50 each new!
eBay link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3710014448...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Looks exactly like my existing ones:
I don't really want to gamble £200 for it not to work. Does anyone know if they will work?
Also, my car has sat in a garage for the past 3 years apart from its annual trip to the MOT station, which means the battery has gone flat a fair few times. I now have no information on my dials about the TPMS, its as if it thinks it doesn't have them from factory? Does anything need resetting? Another worry spending out £200-£400 on new sensors to then find out the module or something else needs replacing.
I've had a Google and cant seem to come up with much!
Thanks for any help!

There are plenty of TPMS units out there if you do a search. There are also references to sources within this forum. Just make sure you have the correct frequency when you buy them. I have an 06 and it can have either a 315mhz or a 433mhz receiver. From the picture you posted you have 433MHZ installed on your car. Its printed on the part. For best performance go with OEM. I used Titon and they work after coaxing but I am not really happy with them. Once you have the new sensors installed you will have to reset the TPMS module in the car. You can do this by pulling the fuse (I think #70) under the back seat. That is also listed in this forum with instructions. You will also have to do a soft reset from the command center on your dash. I had to do numerous soft resets when I changed mine before they started working. Also add the year of your car to your member data so that people can better answer your questions.

Right... 4 new Tpms's fitted. Drove for 20miles and nothing comes up on the dash clocks, I've gone through each menu.
Removed fuse 70 and put it back, still nothing on the clocks.
Do you think I need to go back to the dealer for them to activate the tpms?
The car has sat in a garage for a few years before I bought it, and the battery was dead for months. I wonder if it's gone back to default settings and it thinks it wasn't built with tpms?
