Hello all,
Looking for some advice!
I looked at a 2006 S500 with 150k miles. It runs great.
It has a rebuilt transmission with a 5 year warranty. The owner also replaced both front airmatic shocks and had the car computer aligned.
Only cons are the tire pressure light is on, even though he put on brand new tires from BIG-O... It might just be sensor. And the rear right passenger door doesn't open due to some faulty thing in the close assist.
Other than that, everything inside is clean and it ran smooth as hell on the freeway at 80mph.
Any thought? What are common problems with this car? Tranny and shocks have been done so major costs are out of the way I believe, plus they both are warrantied...
Any feedback? Plus he said we can take the car to a mechanic shop and have them check it out, he wants me to be confident in buying the car.

2006 is a pretty good year for the W220's since its the last, meaning Mercedes got 7 years to correct their issues. But i would suggest a W221 over a W220. You can get a S550 W221 for 15k that has like 100k miles. It was built much much better than the W220's.

The tire scenario is most likely sensors, the batteries don't last forever. The transmission is most likely a 722.9 unless the car is 4Matic in which case it is a 722.6. The latter are good transmission, the former not so much so. If the warranty is any good transmissions should not be an issue. While post number 2 is correct, IMO, if you like the W 220 styling better than the W 221, go for it.
