Hello Hello. My s500 spent 3wks in a shop only to tell me they could not fix it. It was reading the p0705 error from both MB stealership and the side mechanic. I had it towed home to remove the broken lever assembly myself. I removed my shifter only to find that there is no linkage between the shifter and control arm. As you see in the picture it merely sits together with no security.
Besides me calling the previous repair shop and going back and forth about them not returning it, what can I buy today to fix it?
That clip does go on the linkage post to secure it on the shifter. But it looks worn out, go to The Home Depot or somewhere and buy yourself some E Clips. Clip it on and it should be fine, had mines for half a year already and no problems.
Thank you Jason! The e-clip is working. I'm going to try again and add more than one. I'll still keep a look out for the bushing that goes with that clip.
No problem! Whoever designed the clip made it very easy to bend, after repeated uses the little bit of metal holding the rod in place will bend and the linkage will fall out. Common problem with the W220's
