S500 Oil warning on computer

S500 Oil warning on computer

Hello All

I just brought a s500 and on driving home it came up check oil level so i did so and put a 1l in then 20mins later it came back up so added another 1l went away for abit then came back again this time i switched the ignition off and on and it went away but then cam back every 10-15 mins , its since gone off now and hasn't reopired yet.

Any help would be great as im clueless

I would have immediately turned around and gone right back to the person I bought the car from.

Did you manually check the oil to see how low it was before adding any? Putting too much oil in can cause serious problems to your engine.

Although electronic warnings are mostly reliable. I wouldn't always take them as gospel especially something like an oil warning light.

I got a dipstick for mine so if I don't trust my system I can check it the old fashioned way. Gives me peace of mind.

Yeah get a dipstick and then you can see if you can trust the oil level sender unit or functioning correctly.
