Noise only on decel. Gone in neutral. Help.
Third issue of the short weekend, and none of them solved! This car will be the death of me. I HATE BSR (buzz, squeak, rattle). While listening for the annoying squeak from the front end, I noticed a very slight grinding/humming noise only coasting downhill in drive. Slide into neutral and it's gone and no noise accelerating. While I was doing the brakes, I noticed the front left outer CV joint boot clamp was gone and grease was leaking. I used an adjustable screw clamp and got the boot closed. Could it be the joint? Having spend most of the weekend reading for answers, I can't find any symptoms of worn CV joints that list a noise on decel, only thumping like sounds. Any advise is most appreciated!!

I would think that the first place to start would be adding grease to the cv joint you discovered missing a clamp. See if this makes any difference.
IMO the hardest things to diagnose, without actually hearing the noise, is the BSR complaint.

Agreed. I think I'll replace the front axle assembly and at the same time do the lower ball joints. I spent 5 hours tracing the license plate light all the way to the rear SAM and nowhere did if find power to the wire. I decided not to take the rear seat frame out to trace the wire into the SAM. The rear seat frame doesn't look easy to remove?
