Steering lock removal
Had a quick search and couldn't find anything,
So I am installing a keyless push start and smart entry system on my S320, but I need to disable or remove the steering lock.
Wondered if anybody has any experience with this, or can point me to any articles/pictures that can show how I can achieve this.
Thanks in advance

There is no steering lock on W220. All keys are stored in the shifter, and it is blocked in "P" until the key is recognized, and it also has to give drive authorization for engine start. I dont know what system do you plan to use, but the only way this to be done ,and very complicated at that, is to make it work alongside the original DAS.

Thanks for the reply, the push start is a feature of the system, and its not a feature that is so important so I can forgo that feature if its too complicated to get working.
How is the key recognized, is is it some RF system when the key is placed in the key slot ?..

When the key is inserted in the ignition switch (EIS) they exchange information thru Infrared signal. Once the key is recognized as one of the car's 8 keys the rolling code (so called HASH) is send thru CAN and other modules part of the DAS (Drive Authorization System) has to recognize it too. In your car this is the engine control module and the shifter.
