They look very similar, but I think Hyundai is guiltier than Mercedes-Benz in this case. With the 2003 E-class, Mercedes just refined the 4-oval headlight look they introduced on the '96 E-class, way before the Sonata had that look.

The Jaguar XJ-series had quad headlights back in the 70's. I'm sure there are dozens of cars that had 4 lights even earlier than that, probably dating back to the 50's. Mercedes didn't do anything new with the '96 E-class, except if you compare it to the '95 E-class, which only had two headlights.

C'mon, let's not bash Hyundai. I'd never even think of buying one, but you must admit their styling department is doing a good job (even if they're copying Mercedes--part of the job is making the cars look classier than their price suggests). Check out the XG350 grille--looks just like an Infiniti.

Let the poor have their fun. Meanwhile, the truly poor like myself will buy old luxury cars (and remain poor by fixing them all the time!)

Hyundais have always been subpar in my books, mainly because of the first-generation Excel. The bodies rusted, A/C never worked, engines blew up all the time. But I have to say I genuinely liked the Scoupe Turbo, that was a blast of a car. And the new Tiburon V6 is a pretty good-looking car too, I think.
