Question diagnostic service

I am taking my 2000 s430 to get a diagnostic check on monday and was wondering how much this will cost me. the service manager did not tell me when I asked her she just said it could be 1 to 3 hours. Can anyone tell me how much is too much for this service. thanks.

why the diagnostic test? Did something show up in the cluster display or check engine light is on?

It only take a few minutes to pull the codes from the computer. How long the dealer wants to put down as labor depends on them and probably how well you know them.

Average labor is between $90-$100 a hour, so plan accordingly to that rate. Most from what I've seen is an hour they put as labor to pull codes for diagnostic.

Good luck.

Thanks for answering, Cdawg. I forgot to put the problem here it is. Last week I put new rims on my car and when the tire place dropped the car from the lift the car dropped all the way down and the cluster read "STOP CAR TOO LOW AIRMATIC." IN RED. i TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT THE AIR COMPRESSOR IS NOT GOOD. So I went to the dealer and got an air commpressor for $254 dollars at a 30% discount from my mechanic. After my mechanic put the new commpressor on the car worked fine it raised to its normal level, but the commpressor would not turn off after the car was shut off. The car worked fine for about 1 day then yesterday morning I go outside and the car is dropped again. My mechanic then told me to get a diagnostic done on the car from the dealer because his computer is not working. Thanks for the reply

I believe some people have had problems with putting bigger wheels (you didn't specifiy what size). Try doing a search or just scroll through the w220 forum for the title.

I think the first year w220's had a problem with the air compressor for Air-Matic, but that was only on some cases.

Try replaeing the relay for the airmatic suspension pump.
Get the fuse/relay sheet out from the spare tire area.
The realy is under the hood on the passenger side fuse box.
The relays usally get hot and stick causeing them to burn up the air pump.

Thanks Brian, Got my car fixed It wasnt the relay it was that the air commpressor went on it. the guy that did the job said that the air commpressors give out after a certain time in those cars (S430). Now the car has the 20 inch rims and is sitting up. Will post pictures later. thanks
