Accelerator pedal

My 02 S 430 had all the symptoms shown by those who have had bad pedals. I decided to replace mine and ordered one from Parts Geek. When I received it,it looked the same as the one in my car. However, when I took my old one out, it had one plug in at the top and one on the kick down switch. The new one, 220-300 01 04, did not have a plug in for the cable that goes to the kick down switch. The new one had a kick down switch but there was no plug in for the cable. The cable on the top was the same as the old one. I just assumed this was for a later model , so I removed the switch from the old unit and put it in the new pedal. Now both cables are connected. When I took it out for a test run, nothing changed. It still did the same thing as the old pedal.
So now what does one do? What else could cause the same effects a bad pedal could cause? Might it be that this is not the right pedal for this car?
I never did have a notice of a fault indicated on the dash. I am at a loss to what to do next.

Perhaps giving a careful, complete description of the car's symptoms might elicit some help...

Accelerator pedal

I searched this forum and read all the posts concerning the accelerator and the symptoms the other posts described were the same as the symptoms I was having, hesitation moving out from a stop sign, a stall sensation while driving at a slow speed on the street, 35 MPH, and no indication of a fault showing on the dash.
Most of the other posts show they replaced the accelerator pedal assy and it solved the problem. I decided to do the same. I ordered one, it came in and I started the install. I had two sockets on my old one, one 6 wire at the top and one 2 wire below on the kick down switch. The new pedal assy only had one plug in at the top and no plug on the kick down switch. I replaced the kick down switch with the one from my old pedal assy.
A test drive was done and there was no change to the prior problem. The dealer I bought the new pedal from said that was the only type there is and it will work with that car. At this point, I don't know what the next step would be. There are no MB dealers within 100 miles of where I live and the local shops have not dealt with this type of problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should look at next to solve this problem?
