OH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT... P007F P1911 P0400

Hello all,

On my 2003 S430 with 135k miles. I just got a check engine light this morning. With codes P007F P1911 P0400. I know P0400 is the EGR valve, or the metal pipe that sticks into the intake. The vacuum line for the EGR valve was replaced at 120k miles.

Can anyone shine some light on this issue? Thank you!!

P007f - Could possibly be your coolant temperature sensor. They are relatively easy to replace. It sits under the thermostat with a little horseshoe clip holding it in. The best way to replace it is to loosen the thermostat (some people say remove the thermostat I didn't really need to). While at it you might as well replace the thermostat if you haven't already. The thermostat is around $40 at the dealer and everything comes in the box. The coolant temperature sensor isn't that expensive. I replaced mine a couple of months ago.

That little clip can be pulled out with a screwdriver. Just be careful so that it doesn't fly off into never never land. Dealers don't usually stock them. Just put a towel under the thermostat housing for the anti-freeze that will leak out.

HERE ARE ALL THE OTHER CODES: Just click on one and it will tell what the code is.

Hope this helps.

Here are some more codes that may not be in the other list I sent you.

Thank you John. It turned out to be none of that. I replaced all the vacuum lines near the EGR valve. But I didn't check the intake manifold pressure sensor lines. They turned into jelly as soon as I laid a finger on them. Both lines were replaced. One was I think the fuel regulator line and the other one was the intake pressure sensor line. No more check engine and all is fine. This one was a hard one because the check engine comes on only when I drive the car hard for a good 10 minutes. But it's solved once again. This is not the first time P0400 came up. Hopefully this thread will help others when their rubber decides to rot.
