2006 SL55 with 030 Performance Package
S500 4matic VS New Bentley GT 4Door
Anyone have any thoughts on the New 2005 Bentley GT 4door sedan? Both have all wheel drive, the Bentley has 550HP V12 any thoughts?

yeah i think the bentley gt 4 door would win hands down. as far as rarety and above all the name. By time the bentley comes out i am sure the new S class would be out with their updated version so wait and see.

SL600, A8L W12, Continental GT, Range Rover SC
While I assume you’re comparing against the S500 because it has the 4matic option, the S600 is a much closer comparison in terms of engine and pricing. All things considered, I think the Bentley wins that comparison. I have a deposit on the four door version of the GT and plan to replace my 2001 S500 with that car. Compared with the S600, I think the points in favor of the Bentley are the beauty of the interior and multitude of interior finish choices, exterior styling and exclusivity, while the points against are exterior styling and exclusivity. In other words, the Bentley will call more attention to itself than you might like. In comparison, S-Class Mercedes are so common as to be pretty invisible these days, which is either a negative or a positive depending on your mood or surroundings. Actually, the other car I’m considering to replace the S500 if the Bentley doesn’t work out is the Volkswagen Phaeton W12, which is essentially a dressed-down Bentley without turbos. I think it has a certain counter-cultural chic: kind of the ultimate contrarian car.
BTW, the dealer tells me that the four door Bentley will be introduced at the Detroit auto show in January 2005 and ship to US customers in the autumn of 05 as an 06 model. Of course by that time we may well have the next generation S to compare it to.

996tt, E55, X3 and a few others not worthy of mentioning here...
i understand that the bentley sedan will be a long wheelbase model which is wonderful if you're a passenger but why spend that kind of money for someone else's benefit? notwithstanding phaeton value, i am waiting for the S8 (short wheelbase version hopefully) and that will keep my GT company very nicely thank you...

I have not seen the pictures of the Bentley 4 door. Is it basically the GT with 4 doors?
Anyways It would be a hard choice. I hope we are comparing the S600 here. the creme of the crop, top of the line MB verses Bentley, legendary craftsmenship and exclusivity. Very hard choice, but woldnt the bentley be at altleast be 200,000? While you can get and S600 for about 140,000. Can you get a Bentely without a massive markup of 50 grand...

I have a spot at MSRP on Bentley GT sedan that will arrive mid to late 2005.
A non turbo and turbo GT sedan are in the works the price will start in the $130,000 range. The 2 door GT will be higher priced than Sedan like the S class is less than a CL.
I need 4 doors and all wheel drive, my 2 door fun is covered with the SL55 AMG and the S600 no 4matic.
The Bentley GT sedan with all wheel drive, 4 doors,V12,and great interior fit and finish seems to be the best value at the $150,000 price point.
For the past 10 years I have bought only Mercedes so I hope the Bentley will be as good as the MBs

Bentley is known for its fine detail but Iam not so sure about the engineering side.
The new Bentley GT series of cars are the first new cars from the VW group I guess the question is are VWs built and engineered as well as modern MBs or better?
My partner has a 2001 Arnage its the finest detailed car I have seen, but not so sure about it as a everyday driver.
I do need to try something new and the Bentley GT seems like a great blend of British fine detail and German engineering!
Bentley is targeting S600 and 750 customers with the GT Sedan
they expect 80 percent of the GT buyers to be first time Bentley owners
