2000 S500 key issue
I have a 2000 W220 with both original infrared ignition keys. One key works fine, the other causes multiple errors intermittently. Sometimes the ignition key wont turn, another time it will start the car but I cant shift out of park, another time it will start and I can drive but no electrical functions work, A/C, radio, steering wheel adjustment etc. Occasionally it will work just like it should. When I inquired with the dealer about the problem I was told that the ignition module in the vehicle needed to be replaced. I don't understand that reasoning as I still have a key that works as intended. I have had issues with both the left and right SAM modules, the left having been replaced and the right was resurrected with cleaning the contacts. I still get errors about the right front headlight even though there is nothing wrong with it. Something tells me it is likely related to the SAM module. Anybody have a clue as to where to look?
