Navigation and audio problems
Looking to possibly purchase a 2006 S430 that the navigation/ radio unit turns on but when you press cd button doesn't recognize unit...press navigation same result then unit goes black screen...
Also has power door lock issues, trunk latch issues, SRS light on and low battery....possibly battery drain somewhere owner has a switch on the battery so as to not have the battery drain....I think that is the root of all the problems but says the battery will drain if left connected...
I have read numerous posts about Audio gateway Control being the main culprit but when I call Mercedes parts they say it is called an Audio Amplifier, he gave me part #2208704189
If I replace the navigation (head unit) with aftermarket and the new unit has a Benz-Can-Bus-Decoder box will this unit be a plug and play as opposed to having to rewire the entire car from fiber optics?

If you replace the head unit but still use the factory amp and run everyting through the oem wires you're not going to fix the battery drain
the easiest workaround to a battery drain is to buy the battery brain t3 on Amazon . It's a remote control battery disconnect using a keyfob remote to connect and disconnect the battery to prevent drain

Yeah but I've heard that the car has to be reset every time the battery is disconnected or replaced...

Did you buy the android unit on Ebay?
I've seen them and they are $350 which is cheap but wasn't sure if they would work...I thought you had to have some interface module for it to run on the fiber optic and steering wheel controls to work....I'd like to find one that is a plug and play unit...

You don't seem to understand that if you want it to be plug and play, you'll still be using the same parts of the oem audio system that are causing your battery drain !
