hi, 01 s500....one of my remote fob sometimes seem to work intermittently.... no red light when buttons pushed.... i couldn't lock the car.... about an hour later, i was able to see bright LED again... the car started fine with the key... didn 't check whether i could start the car when the LED wouldn't come on. . . .

it would have been worse if i was able to LOCK the car but couldn't unlock....

anyway, this key FOB has a crack on the Unlock button from use... maybe the wife used nail on it due to frustration...

Is there a battery change for these things???

any similar incidents guys?

You can open it up by taking the metal key out and sticking it the horizantal opening and, there, you should find a battery. Battery shouldn't cost that much, and you should be able to find it anywhere.

yeah, usually intermittent operation is a sign of the battery going.

it's a few bux for the battery and u can change it yourself. Though, the battery I haven't been able to find outside the dealer? I've tried home depot, cvs, electronic stores...no one has them??? I've had to go back to the dealer to get the batteries

i didn't get it....
you take the metal key out and there's a slot to push into or something, and the fob opens to expose battery ?

Had similar problem. Drop by the dealer get a new batter, I am not sure how much it is exectly but it's only a few dollars and just ask them to change it right there they should do it no problem.
