Hello - I have 2001 W220. Last week I get engine light in my dash. I went and check out the code and it is P0442 (Evap Emission Control System Leak Detected). Today, I stop by to get a gas and my gas tank cap/lid is not opening NOT the door, the gas tank lid/cap. It was just turning round..round.


Any assistance will greatly appreciated.

Simple broken cap

get a big hammer and break it off. Don't hit the edges where the metal filler tube is , hit it in the plastic center
