Auto Dimming Mirrors
My wife's 2005 S430 4Matic was a bargain deal which needed a bit of work, but all that I could handle so it was a definite steal at $900.nine months ago.
Anyway, I cant seem to find much information on the auto dimming feature of the mirrors. I know the drivers door should as well as the rear view mirror but not the passenger side mirror.
Problem is, the rear view mirror is dimmed at night when driving regardless of lighting conditions. When I put it in 'Reverse', it turns the dimming feature off, as it's supposed to. Then back on as soon as I put it into 'Drive'. The driver's side mirror is disconnected electrically so I know it will not work....this is only about the interior's rear view mirror.
Has anyone ever had this problem? Was it a bad sensor? Where is the sensor that detects the light in order to dim the mirror?
This auto dimming feature works as it should on my 2005 S430 4Matic, so I'm certain it's not working properly on hers.
