S500 with about 15,000 to 20,000 miles on it
i am wondering if anyone has experienced any
major problems (mechanical/ electrical) with their

Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland
you could try 01+ cause I might be able help you out there. But anyways if it has to be 02 and up then 02 S500, if possible make it sport. Let me know if you have any questions.

My brother just got a offer on brand New 2004 S500 for $76,000 (MSRP$85k) includes dest. & $1k gas Guzzler tax. Is it a good deal?

Brand new MY2004 S500 for $76k (incl. destination & GG Tax) - sounds very impressive!
Is there any options installed (like CD changer - which is still an option )?
I would guess that the car offered for that price is in stock (its looks like overstock elimination offer).
So, are the exterior/interior colors matching your desire?
If yes and the budget allows, I would go for brand new S500 (though options like AMG Sport Package, Distronic, Parktronic, Active Ventilated seats - would be missed a lot )

heh, just noticed...
Cople of ppl voted for Beemer?
Interesting...
No offence, but I would rather drive Audi, Lexus or Infiniti than that ugly BMW rival...
How people can compare that hi-tech trashcan with S?

The base price difference between 745i and S500 is about $10k which does not look that much after you experienced both vehicles...

I guess the price is very good at current market then.
I did vote for 745iL due to the price & interior design. Afterall you sit in the car not outside the car.
For $85k you get all the options possible on 745il. The driving dynamic is way better than S-class. Interior is very nice, actually nicer than MB. BUT I still hate the i-Drive and the exterior design.
That's the only option that car has...CD changer $410.
The car is in the showroom floor in Pewter Metallic / Charcoal. The way my brother wants.
The dealer is in Cupertino, CA. He also get above blue book trade-in value on the 99 ML430! :P

New 7-series interior (again IMO) is not bad, but feels much cheaper than even Audi 6/8 series. The only two things I liked in a nw 7-series BMW are:
1. The raised placement of the monitor is kinda cool and more ergonomic
2. Night amb. lighting - nicely implemented
But again - may be its only me... but when you drive 745i and then immediately A8 - A8 wins.
If you try A8 and then S500 - S-Class wins
And do not bother to test S-Class after 745i, that may stop you from visiting BMW dealership for a few years...

And again , considering the over the book trade-in value for your ML430, unbelievable discount on brand new (it is brand new, right? not fleet or some demo?) car - you have nothing to lose (well, besides your ML )
