2004 s430 w220 chassis
central locks and trunk not opening
I have a 2004 w220 s430 and cannot open trunk unless I use the key. The locks and also the fuel door are not working as well. Fortunately the fuel filler door is open. I have read various forums from others who have had same problem and have tried numerous things and still cannot get the system to work. My particular model does not have retractable handle on trunk. I have also tried to locate fuse under rear seat from diagrams I have found and they do not match up with mine. Can someone please advice on what to try. Thank You

Remove the floor light to expose the fuses under the right side of the rear seat. Look close to the end near the center of the car, and find a yellow 20-Amp fuse. Remove it, and make certain that it is good. Replace it - you have just reset the computer that operates the PSE (Pneumatic Service Equipment) system. See if any of the pneumatic equipment now works. If some equipment works temporarily, it usually indicates a leak in that particular equipment, usually a faulty diaphragm or actuator.

One possibility is a failed PSE pump. The pump is located at the forward left corner of the trunk.
Go to the home page of the forum. Click on the "search" at the top of the page, then click on "advanced search". In the top left windows, type in search terms like "pse fuse blows", then in the lower right window, scroll down until you find "New S Class", and "W220" and select W220, then search.Keep reading and searching until you become knowledgeable enough to start making guesses on what you should do. Then come back and ask more questions.
You might also be surprised if you do a similar search on YouTube...

If you determine that your pump has broken, you'll need to replace the pump.
Make sure you find out where your system is leaking from. This leak is why your pump burned out. In my wife's S430 the leak was within the trunk lock/latch/soft-close feature. Her pump got so hot, the ID Sticker on the outside of the pump was all melted.
If you don't fix the leak, you'll burn out the next pump you put in.
I actually have two pumps not being used at home right now if you end up needing one, contact me and we can work out a fair deal.
But no matter what you do, DEFINITELY find and fix the leak if your pump is burned out.
