you can get an updated dvd , though Mercedes does not officially list it for the s class. I believe the update part is the latest navigation DVD for my 2004 S500 (A211 827 49 65 for North America

Your 2004 has an NTG-1 Comand system. The final update for it is V-15.0, the part number is T1000-23902 directly from Navigation.com. For some reason the S and SL classes that use the NTG-1 system are not listed for this update. The way to find it is search on a 2007 E class. I used this disc in both my 2005 SL and 2006 S class cars, it works.
