W220 accelerating into limp mode?
Dear All,
I'd really appreciate your help with this issue as it's driving me insane!
I have a 1999 W220 S500L. Intermittently the car effectively goes into limp mode and pulls up an ESP fault up randomly. From that point on it won't let me accelerate beyond 10mph until it gets reset on the Mercedes Star system. It's important to note that when the system does get reset, the car drives and performs beautifully like normal.
Mercedes Star shows the following fault codes:
P0120
P1580
C1022-018
Already I have had the throttle pedal (incl the sensor in it) changed. I've also had the throttle body changed. Yet the problem persists!
I have a replacement ESP turn rate acceleration sensor (Bosch part number 0265005113) arriving tomorrow as another attempt to fix it.
But honestly, I'd really appreciate it if anyone else has experience of this fault or any other suggestions?
Many thanks

Try replacing the brake light switch. That can throw the ESP light. it's a common failure item and not expensive, and it's very easy to replace.
