S-Class Recall Information
I dont know if we have an area out here for this or not but a friend of mine at work sent this to me.
Mercedes Benz S & CL Class Involved in Two Recalls
Date: 5/14/2004
Reason: Corrosion may occur in the inner steel portions of the active body control's (ABC) high-pressure distribution hose due or during the production process of the blower motor fuse holder, the size of the electric conductor of the holder may be below appropriate tolerances.
Distribution: Nationwide.
Recall One
Make : Mercedes Benz
Model : S & CL Class
Year : 2001-2003
NHTSA Campaign ID Number : 04V228000
Recall Date : May 04, 2004
Component: Suspension Automatic Stability Control (ASC)
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 6238
Summary:
On certain passenger vehicles, corrosion may occur in the inner steel portions of the active body control's (ABC) high-pressure distribution hose due to extensive exposure to heat and humidity. Over time, corrosion may deteriorate the inner steel portions of the hose.
Consequence:
This may result in abc hydraulic fluid leakage, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy:
Dealers will install new, corrosion resistant abc high-pressure distribution hoses. The manufacturer has not yet provided an owner notification schedule for this campaign. Owners should contact Mercedes-Benz at 1-800-367-6372.
Notes:
Customers can also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
Recall Two
Make : Mercedes Benz
Model : S & CL Class
Year : 2000 and 2001
NHTSA Campaign ID Number : 04V227000
Recall Date : May 04, 2004
Component: Electrical System:Fuses And Circuit Breakers
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 54454
Summary:
On certain passenger vehicles, during the production process of the blower motor fuse holder, the size of the electric conductor of the holder may be below appropriate tolerances.
Consequence:
Consequently, the electric conductor of the holder may dissipate more heat than the plastic fuse holder was designed to withstand, which could result in partial melting of the blower motor fuse holder and disabling of the blower motor.
Remedy:
Dealers will install new blower motor fuse holders. The manufacturer has not yet provided an owner notification schedule for this campaign. Owners should contact Mercedes-Benz at 1-800-367-6372.

Customers can also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
