Trunk latching issue doesn't seem to be covered?
As I posted in my intro, my trunk wont latch. I have taken the trim off and taken pictures and I think the problem may be the small tree that it was backed into causing the bumper to compress enough to crack a little paint and dent the trunk lid. It looks to me, after uncovering all of everything under the trim, that maybe it flexed enough to affect the sealing of the trunk. the latch will latch manually and sometimes I hear the pump or something working, and I see the latch close itself down. it doesn't work at all if not doing it by hand, and then I can only hear the mechanism working sometimes. Can Someone steer me in the right direction please? Thank You for any response.
Thank you to the few who have responded to my other post. I will get a sensor and give you the code I get soon, I just don't have one on hand currently.

Wow, you have a problem! There are a lot of questions I would have to ask before I could point you in the right direction, I would suggest going through the W220 encyclopedia on trunk closing and optional features you may or may not have. The PSE pump in the trunk on left fender well handles soft close on doors and trunk, door locks and lumbar massage on front seats. Mounted on trunk lid is the pressure/vacuum chamber mechanism that soft closes the trunk and pushes the trunk handle in and out. It may be leaking now.

I don't believe that the 2000 S500 has the retracting handle.
